Henry #57 Called Communication – Degree Work |
Those of us who have been in Freemasonry for a while have all heard and passed on the jokes about the real leader of a Blue Lodge being the Secretary or those about Past Masters’ “Well, in my year ……..”. My Brethren, being responsible for a Lodge and the obligation taken at installation are not jokes. So, who is responsible and what do you commit when getting in line? If you would someday like to be in line or are just plain curious, come to the September Stated Communication where the night’s program will address this and other mysteries of Lodge leadership.
We often talk about training and opportunity in determining someone’s future. The only real way a person has a future is if they are here now and there then. In this dangerous world, there are many ways to prevent the continuance of lie and there is one way you can help restore it …….. give blood today and it will be part of someone’s tomorrow. “The Gift of Life” is not a cute slogan; it is reality.
Our District Blood Coordinator, Brother Rob Hopkins needs to submit reports of Lodges’ donations. When you give blood, please fill in the sheet on the bulletin board in the social hall or send me an e-mail at scottishloi@aol.com. Thank you for caring.
We often talk (a recurring theme) about the vast Masonic Family and how we are responsible for each other. Many families don’t talk to each other or go years without visiting. Some only call when they want something or show up to receive a gift. Is this our family?
Reach out today to a fellow Masonic Family member. Call or visit the widow of a Brother to talk or invite her to a function. Visit a Rainbow or DeMolay meeting. Call a Brother you haven’t seen in a while and have lunch. Come to Lodge, but not alone.
Reach out in kindness and fellowship. You will receive more than you give.
Life – Be in It!
The Julianne Canaday Memorial Scholarship for 2004 in the amount of $500.00 was awarded to Ms. Heather Holbrook at the August Rainbow Fairfax Assembly #3 meeting. Heather, a member of the Fairfax Assembly, had a previous commitment that night but rushed over along with her parents to attend the meeting and receive the award. This hard working young lady has received several scholarships and Henry Lodge is proud of her. The scholarship fund was established in the name of a Rainbow Member of the Henry Lodge sponsored Assembly #3. It has grown through your generosity and prudent investment so that we have presented a $500 award for three years straight now (previously, the amount was $400) and hope to award two $500 scholarships next year.
I have order the formation of a committee to be chaired by the current Senior Deacon to review the current fund guidelines, goals, and participation. The Rainbow Assembly has been encouraged to become more involved in the fund promoting increased resources and applications. All recommendations will be turned over to the incoming Worshipful Master for consideration.
