eTrestleboard and Calendar

July, 2003

Brethren,

As I write you this month I can’t help but focus on those swift sands of time --- almost 7 months have passed since you honored me by placing the gavel in my hand and I was shocked to see some white space emerging on the Long Range Calendar. Join with me during the next 5 months to conclude another great year for Henry Lodge! Speaking of time --- June has come and gone too quickly! We began the month with your SW, Wor. Russ Williams, in the East for an outstanding Masonic Family program. Then we attended a delightful dinner program at Kena Shrine Center planned by our DDGM, RW Wayne Grindle to officially receive our GM to District 4. Next we celebrated St. John the Baptist Day by both attending church and jointly conducting a Table Lodge with Concord Lodge No. 307. Over 60 brethren attended the Table Lodge including the Grand JD, RW George Dungan, Jr. ,and the Grand Tiler, Wor. William Turner. The summer solstice (June 21st at 3:10 pm) scientifically signaled the beginning of summer --- and hopefully an end to our usually wet weather Summer brings opportunities for family and re-creation as will our July – August programs at Henry Lodge. July will find us supporting the City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade with our CHILD ID Booth, attending a Baseball Game and celebrating our Nation’s 227th anniversary as part of our July Stated’s Happy Birthday USA program. August will feature Peach Night and our annual Lodge Picnic. Bring the family and enjoy our summer programs! Special congrats to our Rainbow (see below).

See you in lodge!

Child ID

On July 4th, Henry Lodge will once again perform its CHILD ID service at the City of Fairfax Independence Day Parade. This service project draws public attention to the good works of both our Lodge and our Fraternity, but, more importantly, provides a vital community service for families. Join us at Fire Station No. 3 from 8:30 to noon and, if you have them, wear your Henry Lodge hat and shirt. This is always a rewarding event —– and we can use your help for some or all of the time. See you on the 4th!!!

Masonic Home of Virginia (MAHOVA) Support

Our 2003 Henry 57 goal is to achieve 100% participation in our MAHOVA giving. All Lodge members are asked to consider giving a penny per day ($3.65) or more to our Masonic Home. But since every dollar counts, even $1 will make a difference and help us achieve our goal of 100% Lodge participation. Send your contribution to the Lodge Secretary using the form mailed in the Trestleboard.

Happy Birthday USA Masonic Family Dinner Program

All members of the Henry Lodge Masonic family (Masons, Eastern Star, Rainbow Girls and DeMolay) are invited to join the Worshipful Master for a Happy Birthday USA celebration on Tuesday, 8 July. A dinner will be served at 7:00 pm, followed by the opening of our Stated Meeting at 7:30 pm and immediately calling off for a Building the Flag Ceremony performed by Light Horse Harry Lee Camp of the National Sojourners, Inc. All who attend will receive a flag and a copy of Our Freedom’s Documents.

Grounds Care Volunteers

The lodge lawn is green, growing and needs mowing! If you can help to maintain our grounds, please volunteer for by placing your name on the weekly mowing roster posted in the lodge Social Hall or call the WM. Special thanks to those Brethren who have already stepped forward to help!
