Henry Lodge #57 A.F. & A.M.
eTrestleboard and Calendar
February, 2003

Brethren,
We’re off to a good start. After enjoying a delicious meal prepared by our Sisters of Hope Chapter No. 73, OES, over 55 were in attendance as we opened our first meeting of the new year and welcomed our DDGM, RW Wayne Grindle, on his official visit to our Lodge. Congrats to all our officers for your exemplary ritual work!
During the January Stated, our immediate PM, Wor. Ralph Smith, accepted the 2002 Hillman Award on behalf of our Lodge. This continues our tradition of exemplary work and is a testament to the outstanding leadership of Wor. Ralph during his year! Bro. Clesson McDonald, also accepted on behalf of the Lodge the Levy Award for our 2002 blood program. Speaking of “The Gift of Life,” note that at our February Stated we will receive an official visit from our District Blood Coordinator, Wor. Robert Hopkins.
During January, I was honored to attend the Installation of Officers for our very own Fairfax Assembly No. 3, IORG , and extend my best wishes to Ms. Heather Bowles, the newly installed Worthy Advisor , and her 2003 officers. Also, I was equally honored to attend the installation of our very own Bro. Bill Hendricks as the 2003 Kena Shrine Potentate.
I want to give you a HL57 lapel pin — so become an “Active Mason” (details below). Take a look at our updated website thanks to Bro. Jeff Copeland. See you in Lodge!

What is an “Active Lodge Member”
Last month it was noted that the WM would present all “active lodge members” a Henry 57 2003 lapel pin (see pin at left). An active member is one who makes a personal commitment to complete 15 items related to Masonic Growth, Lodge Support and Lodge Participation. Obtaining a pin is easy —– u make your 2003 commitment to your Lodge by filling out and signing the enclosed form, v keep the form for your reference, and w ask the WM to present you a pin. Yes, you receive your pin in advance, then earn it by fulfilling your commitment. If you are physically unable to attend lodge or live outside the Fairfax area you may write or call the WM to discuss alternate criteria to obtain your pin.
District
Blood Coordinator Official Visit - Wor. Robert Hopkins
As we prepare to welcome our District Blood Coordinator, Wor. Robert L. Hopkins visit to our February Stated Communication, we should all take a few moments to reflect on the meaning and impact of Masonic blood donations. As Masons, each of us supports charities and good works designed to have a positive effect on our community. Few of these activities, however, are as personal or as immediately effective as blood donation. Simply put, Masonic blood saves lives . . . of accident victims, those recovering from surgery, or others whose lives are touched by trauma or illness. If you are already a donor, you know first-hand the value of your gift and the satisfaction of giving it. If you have not yet donated, February is an excellent time to start. Local opportunities for donation include the American Red Cross and Inova Blood Donor Services (1-866-BLOODSAVES or www.inova.org/donateblood). Once you have donated, please record your donation on the list posted at the lodge or notify our Lodge Blood Coordinator, Bro. Marty Lester, who will record it for you. [Contributed by Bro. Marty Lester]
Lodge Support for the Masonic Home of Virginia (MAHOVA)
„Our 2003 Henry 57 goal is to achieve 100% participation in our MAHOVA giving. All Lodge members are asked to consider giving 1 cent per day ($3.65) or more to our Masonic Home. But since every dollar counts, even $1 will make a difference and help us achieve our goal of 100% Lodge participation. Watch our progress in future months. Make your contribution through the Lodge Secretary.
„In addition to our financial support, Henry 57 will announce the names of two resident families in the next issue of the Trestleboard which it will adopt and care for through cards, gifts and visits during the year.
