From The East

Brethren:

Here at Henry:  We welcome our newest Master Mason, Bro. Greg Restle, raised on 16 April. Bro. Greg, what a pleasure to have you aboard.  Likewise we congratulate Wor. Bro. Bob Williams, PM, in delivering his first Master Mason’s lecture and charge that night! HooooRah for a great Mason and Marine.

Congratulations to Wor. Bro. Paul Kulp, PM who will receive his fifty year veteran’s emblem having arrived at a half century of dispensing Masonic Light!  Wor. Paul is as active about the lodge as if he had just been raised.

With the donation and installation of the shrubbery required by Fairfax City as a screen for the hood exhaust fan, Wor. Paul Kulp, PM has closed the chapter on a project which he initiated in “his year”.  Many thanks Bro. Paul.

Degree Work: The month of May will be busy with a Fellowcraft to be passed and three Master Masons to be raised.  Check the calendar.  We need your help.

Sick and Distressed: Wor. Bro. Bobby Campbell has balanced things out by undergoing knee surgery on the second ailing appendage.  Wor. Bobby, I hope that new knee is performing better than hope and we will see you at Past Masters Night.  Bro. Joe Archuleta is on the mend following a vascular disorder.  Hope you and Desdie get that cruise on track.

We mourn: the loss of a frequent visitor and applicant for affiliation in Wor. Edwin Nelson Morey, PM of Evening Star Lodge # 75, Latham, NY….MIZPAH

Junior Warden: Our Junior Warden, Wor. Russ Williams, PM, will deliver a program  at Cochran Lodge No. 271 in The Plains on Thursday, May 9th.  Let’s turn out in support of Bro. Russ, learn more about Masonry and meet some new friends.  A shrimp dinner will be served at 6:00 PM.

A Tip Of The Henry Hat to the Master’s Krewe:  On behalf of the Lodge, my thanks to Wor. Miles Woolever,PM, Wor. Roger Firestone, PM, Wor. Bob Williams, PM, and Brothers Bill Cullen, Tom Sellers, Jason Lotz, Steve Silvester, Arleigh Rice and Dallas Brumback  who joined me and in the span of one hour at the Lodge cleanup, landscaped the entire south side of the Lodge with mulch, removed the leaves, dead branches, bottles, cans and other debris that had accumulated on the premises over the winter.  Lawn care  will be a much easier and safer task for the remainder of the year.  This was followed by a visit to Fudrucker’s for lunch and some great fellowship.

Honors:  Mrs. Susan Rennagel, Supreme Inspector in Virginia, I.O.R.G. presented the International Order of the Rainbow for Girl’s highest award, The Grand Cross of Color, to Wor. Roger M. Firestone, PM, for his consistent and long  term support of Fairfax Assembly # 3.  Well done good brother and well deserved.

Dinner:  Due to parking lot construction, the christening of the kitchen hood with a Henry family dinner (OES, IORG, DM and their families) was postponed until 20 May at 6:00 PM.  Baked chicken breast, corn, stuffing and I don’t know what else is on the menu.  Family dinners are a treat and I am looking forward to breaking bread with all.

Fishing Trip There are still a couple of seats open for the Lodge fishing trip on 21 May which will depart H-57 at 5:00 AM for Scheible’s Fish Camp in Ridge, MD. Call Wor. Paul Kulp, PM or the Master to get in on a day of fun, fellowship and fishing.

Fraternally,

Ralph W. Smith, Jr.
