From The East

Brethren:

Here at Henry:  Welcome to our newest Master Masons raised last month:  Bro.’s Jerry Pate, Jeffery D. Powers and Keith W. Graffius.  Bro. Powers had his Father-in-Law Bro. Richard Chipman of Ohio and his step son (and brother) Dan Fortney assist in his raising.  Bro. Graffius’ dad came from Pennsylvania to assist in the honors for him.  These were real Masonic Family events!

No, that was not the rush of a late March wind you heard, it was the sigh of relief of your Worshipful Master at the completion of our parking lot.  My appreciation to the Past Masters, Building committee, Trustees and all who assisted me in seeing this problem resolved.  In particular, Wor. Bobby Campbell for his expertise in paving and Wor. Nick Carter in arranging legal council.

Holy Tuna Melt Bat Man! Following our first M/M degree of the month our Junior Steward had the mouths of all in attendance watering with a great Tuna Melt sandwich!  Thanks Bro. Skip and thanks to your mom for her recipe.

Our Stated meeting  on the Tuesday the 11th will be preceded by dinner served by Hope Chapter of the O.E.S  at 6:30 PM.  Lodge starts at 7:30 PM and our featured speaker is Illustrious David Kruger S:.G:.I:.G. AASR.

Fishing on the Bay:  The Lodge fishing trip was a great success. Not only from the nice catch of rockfish but from the gathering of Masons and friends.  Represented were four Grand Jurisdictions (Indiana, Maryland, Virginia and Florida),  seven Districts and ten Lodges:- Acacia #16, VA- Charity #30, IN – Mt. Ararat #44, MD – Elmer Timberman,# 54, VA - Henry #57, VA -  Washington #78, VA- Milton #108, IN –,  Unity #146, VA, Orange Park #267, FL, - Cochran #271, VA.  Guest on board included a Past District Deputy, a Past Master,  a Sitting Master, a petitioner and his father and a number of Masons.  It being R:. Wor:. Johnson’s birthday, the Henry Lodge fishing crew and choir gathered at the filleting bench on the dock and sang ‘happy birthday’.  That moved the seagulls!!!

Bros. Weyland Johnson, PDDGM, Charlie Seaford, PM, Paul Kulp, PM, Jerry Cassiday, Dick May, Clesson McDonald, Bill Hendricks, Wor. Ralph Smith, Don and Jerry Lee all had a great time!

Special Meetings 8 June (Two Parts): On Saturday, June 8th  at 8:30 there will be an officers meeting at the Lodge with breakfast.  IORG, DeMolay and Eastern Star representatives are requested to attend or provide written input.

At 10:30 on June 8th,the Trustees, Building Committee, and available Past Masters will meet with the Master to discuss the future of Henry Lodge.  Refer to the January Stated meeting minutes.  This meeting will be followed by lunch.

Degrees Scheduled:  A Fellowcraft degree is scheduled for Tuesday the 18th and a Master Masons Degree for Tuesday the 25th.  Brethren, come out and continue to  make these special events.

Masonic Youth Day at the Prince William Cannon’s:  A picnic starting at 12:15 PM followed by the ball game at 1:35 PM at the Cannons Park on June 9th is being hosted by Henry Lodge for our two youth programs.  The youth are encouraged to “bring a friend” who might be a candidate.

Fraternally,

Ralph W. Smith, Jr.
