Henry Lodge #57 A.F. & A.M.
eTrestleboard and Calendar
January 2002
From
The East
Brethren:
You
have simultaneously honored and humbled your Brother having chosen me Master of
Henry Lodge No. 57 A.F. & A. M. for the year 2002. I want to thank all of
those who have been a part of my progress to date: Family, friends and brothers.
Your continued support of Henry Lodge and myself is essential as we continue to
move forward. A special thanks to the Worthy Matron and Sisters of Hope
Chapter No. 73, O.E.S. for a well prepared and executed reception following
installation.
Likewise,
well done to Wor. Bob Williams, PM who led the charge in “Toys For Tots.”
Wor. Bob and one of his elves delivered the best part of two pickup truck loads
of toys to the Marines at Camp Upshur for less fortunate children.
As
an addendum you will find a planning calendar for the year. I hope to keep it
moving and that it is of use and interest to you. Some dates are firm,
others will be changed and still others will fall by the wayside. This is
just to give you an idea of the status of what is proposed to take place in our
quarry.
Taped
to this trestle board you have received a “Henry Lodge TUIT”. It’s
round. Since there are a number of you out there who let me know that you
will see me in Lodge when you get around to it, I have gone the extra mile to
see that you have a Token that will get you aboard the Masonic Express.
This TUIT is good anytime you need one. Your spouse, knowing that you have
received it, might suggest its use in catching up on “the honey do list”.
Our widows are reminded that they can use it to redeem any assistance the Lodge
might be able to provide. Our brethren dispersed outside the local area
are urged to use this token as a reminder to visit the nearest lodge and
rediscover Masonry.
Also,
of special significance to the brethren, will be found attached a strand taken
from a Cable Tow used here in Henry Lodge. Pause a moment and consider how
it relates to you. I believe that you will concede that for all intents
and purpose it is the same one used in every Lodge in the world. Touch it.
Let your mind drift back to that moment when it played a momentous part in your
travel along an unfamiliar path. What replaced it? Think of the impact it
has had on your life. Would you kindly share this with me or any brother?
Once
you have received this Trestle board, one twelfth of my tenure is past. To
accomplish the goals of the Lodge, we need your help in every manner
conceivable. Someone to carry the torch of the ritual and participate in
degree work. Someone to lend their ideas and thoughts as to how we can
best administer the physical plant of the Lodge. Someone to inject fresh
ideas as to how we can serve our community. Brothers to help with the
Youth Programs. Brothers to be a sounding board for your officers. And so
it goes, but we need you here to share it with us.
Fraternally,
Ralph
W. Smith, Jr.
