From The East

Brethren:

Here at Henry:  In the absence of  your Master at the end of February and first of March, our Senior Warden, Bro. Harry Sanders conferred his first two E.A. Degrees a week apart under the watchful eyes of  Rt. Wor. Bill Sheads and Wor. Bob Williams, PM respectively, with Bro. Dallas Brumbach delivering both of the lectures.  All who were privileged to attend  awarded Bro. Harry the highest marks for his work from the East.

Honors:  We were pleased to learn that Bro. Tom Munday, Sergeant, Fairfax County Police, received the Silver Medal of Valor for saving the lives of a mother and her child held hostage by a suicidal husband.  Bro. Tommy, we too frequently take for granted the fact that our men in blue are daily faced with that which is out of the ordinary, and all too often life threatening.  Well done good brother.

Thanks, and a Tip of the Henry Hat to:  Bro. Bill Cullen for seeing the completion of the kitchen hood installation.  To Wor. Nick Carter, PM for installing shelves in the storage room behind the East. And last but not least to Wor. Jim Hawkins, PM, who for a number of years while in the printing business saw to the printing of the Trestleboard.  Brethren, you have no idea of the load that Wor. Bro. Jim lifted from the Master.

ProgramsBro. Dave Potter, PM of Acacia 16 will present a program that “revolves” about circumambulation.  Come out and witness a most interesting presentation.  Wor. Ken Kerrick, PM, Masonic Home Ambassador, of Mt. Carmel 133 will bring us up to date on the pride of the Grand Master’s Flag Ship.  Stop and think of the Senior Wardens response during the opening of our Lodge and the importance of Wor. Ken’s message becomes evident.

Dinner At Stated Meetings:  With the installation of the kitchen hood, Sister Lee Hyer, Worthy Matron of Hope Chapter No. 73, OES, has offered to prepare a dinner prior to our stated meetings.  This was inaugurated at the last Stated on short notice but with a great meal.  A donation of five dollars ($5.00) is suggested.  RSVP’s to Wor. Bob Williams, PM at 703-620-4547.

Enclosed:  you have found a packet of wild flower seeds.  When you plant them, think of the Lodges you have visited and the friendships that you have planted there.  When they bloom, remember the last time you enjoyed renewing that friendship.

Lodge Clean Up and Officers Meeting:  Saturday, 6 April 9:00 AM to Noon  followed by hot dogs and ‘burgers.  We need the Youth and Star in this effort.

Chicken Dinner Henry Lodge Families:  Sat.20 April 6:00 pm.  Christen the hood.

Well done:  Herndon 264 for #1 ritual at Sinclair School.  Acacia 16 for impromptu E/A degree and Henry 57 for attendance. To all: for being there.

Fraternally,

Ralph W. Smith, Jr.
